Many dogs and cats are very successful on three legs. It doesn’t matter if it’s a front leg or a back leg- they have an amazing ability to adapt to new circumstances.
.
Think of the body as a box on four legs. If we remove one leg, the only way that box is going to balance is if one of the legs moves and tries to make it into a triangle. But because the body is a box, there’s always a bit of a disconnect between putting the box on top of a three legged stool.
.
All this means is that these cats and dogs really benefit from chiropractic care. Chiropractic. Bodywork. Acupuncture. Massage. Exercise. All of these things help the body train and recover.
.
It also helps if these animals are not fat because extra weight puts extra pressure on the joints.
.
And it helps if they are eating a quality non-inflammatory diet. Because the typical pet food diet, usually kibble, is a very inflammatory diet. Inflammation is gonna put extra strain on the joints that are already out of balance by being three legged. So we want to feed REAL food.
.
But the biggest thing is lining up the car. Dogs think they are sports cars or maybe monster trucks or maybe a combination of both. (Cats are sure that they are sports cars.)
.
So- these sports cars and monster trucks race around and slam into other sports cars and monster trucks and the body goes a little extra crooked- but it’s already crooked because they’re three legged. It just means these animals’ bodies need a good mechanic- thus your body worker or chiropractor.
.
Bodywork puts movement into the joints, loosens tight muscles, activates floppy muscles, achieves balance, and helps the body drive itself as straight as possible.
.
Three legged pets can have an amazing life. They just need a little extra body care.
