Does your dog walk “funny”? Like, instead of moving in a straight line, does his butt go a bit to the side? Some call it crab walking. What does that mean? It means he’s crooked.
.
Like a crooked car, your dog can also be “out of alignment.” Most of us have driven old cars. They’ve been used well, hit a lot of speed bumps and pot holes and it makes the frame of the car crooked. So the car needs to be aligned.
.
The same principle applies to dogs, who are essentially rear wheel drive. They push off like crazy with their back end. So if their back legs aren’t 100% straight when they push off to chase a squirrel, they “bend the frame“ of their car. So like a car, they need an alignment.
.
It’s funny how chiropractic is an awful lot like body work on a car; and the older the car gets, the more often it needs an alignment, because the parts start to wear out.
.
So…When your dog is walking a little bit crooked, or running a little bit crooked, it’s time to get an alignment. What happens if he doesn’t get the alignment? Well, in a car, the tires wear funny. So guess what? The same thing happens in the body.
.
Torn cruciate ligament is an extreme example but very real for many people and their pets. Sadly people spend anywhere from $3,000 to $8,000 to “repair” a torn cruciate ligament but the “body of the car “ never gets lined back up so the other leg breaks down as well.
.
It’s like having a bad rotor and only replacing one rotor but not doing the alignment or rotating the tires so that the other rotor goes bad.
.
Bottom line: If your dog is driving his car crooked – get him adjusted.
