So, you want a dog who could win “best cuddler?” Look no further than this unofficial list of the absolutely cuddliest of canines:
The Beagle takes top spot. (In full disclosure, personal experience drives the answer to this question!) My little beagle is my best snuggler. Maybe that’s because beagles tend to be all muscle, not much fat, and could use a little extra warmth. Whatever the reason, this is a breed that loves to cuddle.
A dachshund fits just right. Most of the dachshunds I know love to sleep under the covers and are fabulous armpit cuddlers.
A larger breed snuggler is the pit bull. Pitties can curl into tight balls making cute little nose-to-tail circles. Nothing better than a curling up with a book and a pit bull on a chilly day.
Great Danes make giant cuddlers. My childhood best friend and top snuggler was a Great Dane. Quite a dog to share a twin bed with, but worth the squeeze.
Don’t forget the domestic short haired cat! Starting as tiny kittens, their purr in the nook of the neck is soothing and warming. Many winter nights, I still find my old orange Dude sleeping across my neck like a heated boa.
So, what’s your favorite cuddling breed?
