Cod liver oil provides Vitamin A, which helps maintain a strong immune system, and Vitamin D, which maintains strong and healthy bones. Cod liver oil is a great source of healthy omega-3 Fatty acids. This oil contains EPA (Eicosa Pentaenoic Acid), good for the cardiovascular system in helping to reduce inflammation in the body and DHA (Docosa Hexaenoic Acid), which is good for eyesight, skin, and a healthy nervous system.
So is cod liver oil more beneficial than salmon, sardine or krill oil?
Or should a variety or oils be rotated ?
Thank you.
In a healthy animal rotation is good
In dogs and cats with health issues one oil will help health conditions depending on the health condition.

My 5 year old GSD was recently diagnosed with the autoimmune disease, pannus. We thought the whites of her eyes were red due to seasonal allergies but when we took her to our vet she said GSD were highly prone to Pannus. She gave us prednisolone acetate, (a steroid) but getting these drops in her eyes has been extremely challenging. We ordered goggles and rex specs for her and she’s doing pretty well wearing them. We live in Colorado, high altitude and strong sunshine, uv rays.
I’m transitioning her diet to an anti inflammatory one.
After reading your blog I’m thinking it sounds like Cod liver oil may be a great supplement to help her with this condition. Any ideas, advice would be greatly appreciated.
