We spend a lot of time looking at our dogs’ poop. And it’s not exactly the same from poop to poop. No one has told us what to do or what to worry about.
 .
Do you wanna know what is weird? I don’t think we study our own poop anywhere to the extent that we study our dogs’ poop.
 .
But maybe we should. Because we might learn something looking at our own poop.
.
For example, it’s not the same color from poop to poop. And it might even be the beginning of the poop is a different color than the end of the poop.
 .
But why?
 .
Well, what’s in the poop? Did you eat a steak and so that part of the poop is dark and then you followed it by a bunch of bread and that part of the poop is really light colored? Works the same for dogs. Cats too. But cats tend to not have the same variety of palate taste as dogs.
.
So, if we’re studying our own poop, we might notice that the consistency is not exactly the same. Like maybe you didn’t chew your blueberries very well yesterday. Or maybe you didn’t chew your carrots well. Or maybe bananas cause loose stool.
 .

Again:

We are going to see the same things when we look at our dogs’ poop.
 .
One of the reasons why I think people don’t expect this is because we’ve been trained by kibble! If a dog eats the exact same food. Every. Single. Meal. Then every. Single. Poop. Is going to look IDENTICAL.
 .
But when people start to realize that dogs can benefit from a variety of fresh foods, just like people can, then people realize that their dogs poop is going to vary just like ours does.
 .
Different additives can change the color. Supplements. Treats . All of these things are going to change the color.
 .
That’s why I say it might be worth studying our own poop a little bit more because then we understand what normal looks like.
