Where do we get the idea that cancer is causing pain? Sometimes I can see your pet is in pain or uncomfortable. However, the pain often is a consequence of all the conventional treatment… like surgery (obviously that can hurt A LOT). Bone cancer can be uncomfortable. Ok. True. Obviously, there can be pain. But it’s not always a given that with cancer comes pain.
.
However, there are lots of great ways to help dogs and cats fight cancer AND avoid pain.
.
Here are some general suggestions:
- Arnica
- Hypericum
- CBD (I like the full spectrum version)
- Chinese herbs
- Western herbs
- Movement. Believe it or not, getting up and moving around relieves pain.
- And everything anti-inflammatory. (No I’m not talking pharmaceuticals!) I do mean great food.
.
Kibble has no place in the diet of a dog or cat, especially one with cancer. Not only is the kibble a major contributor to cancer as it is primarily carbohydrates and exclusively waste product from the human food supply, but it’s inflammatory and will contribute to aches and pains.
.
So if you think cancer is causing your pet pain, fix the food, get him/her up and moving around and share some of the great natural pain alleviating natural medicines that are around.

There’s this one western medicine that regular vets give out like it’s safe and innocuous like candy. G484pen71n. Hope you can figure that one out! It was originally marketed as neurontin – an anti migraine formula for humans. It doesn’t treat pain – it takes the consciousness out of the animal and they don’t give a flying you know what about what’s going on. I’ve had some clients who thought their dog was dying til they stopped the G484pen71n.
.
I have a client who works for the manufacturer. There are NO safety studies. The drug is not approved for use in dogs or cats, but vets give it out like it’s safe. Most of the time, natural meds work better.
.
One more tidbit: most of those nonsteroidal pain relievers are only meant to be used for three days. They become PROinflammatory when we give them day after day after day. They are supposed to be used like we humans use aspirin – have a headache – take it – no headache – don’t. Cuz of the side effects. Just so you know arnica doesn’t have side effects. Neither does a massage.

Still seeing patients in Tampa, Clearwater, and virtually.
