Botanical Name: Lavandula angustifolia

Extraction Method: steam distilled from the flowering tops

The name ‘lavender’ is derived from the Latin ‘lavare’ meaning “to wash”. It has been used for thousands of years for its ability to disinfect, soothe anxiety, relieve tension and stress, to induce sleep and for its soothing, pleasant aroma.

Lavender has powerful antibacterial and anti-inflammatory properties, making it an excellent ingredient to treat rashes and skin abrasions. Lavender also stimulates the growth of new skin cells, which helps promote healing.

Lavender is beneficial to both humans and animals. Lavender can be found in a variety of forms in pet products: distillate (the liquid collected during the steam distillation to extract essential oil) in shampoos and conditioners, essential oil in shampoos and wound care products and lavender buds in pet bedding to combat odors and promote sleep.

Vintage Doggie Spa includes lavender in the following products: Shampoo, Detangling Conditioner, Refreshing Spritz, Herbal Ear Wash and Herbal Healing Salve. Yes, that’s right – lavender is used in every one of our products! We are huge fans of lavender and see firsthand every day how it helps our dogs and ourselves and made it a point to include this powerhouse ingredient in each product we formulated, not just for its calming, soothing scent, but for its soothing skin benefits as well.
